Welcoming New Referrals!
I am happy to share that I have appointment times available weekdays, evenings and weekends. I am growing my practice after opening my office in Waterloo. I welcome you to call or email me with any questions and you can book online.
During your first appointment I will work you to complete an intake form, review a standard terms of counselling form then plan service with you to help you meet your goals. Subsequent appointments will focus on helping you meet your goals. This may involve talking about experiences, exploring how you experience emotions mentally and physically as well as build your ability to manage the challenges you are experiencing personally and in your relationships.
Progress can be very rapid or take time depending on your circumstances. There is more than one counselling approach and we will work together to ensure sessions are meeting your needs. Counselling may help you name the emotion (s) you are experiencing, locate how your experience this emotion in your body and build ways to manage what you are experiencing through calming techniques, time management and communication skill building among others. I want to emphasize the word ‘building’ because these are skills you have but they may need to be located (if they are hidden), repaired (if they are not working) and enhanced (if they are working but strength-training is beneficial).
We all have challenges, we all have strengths, and these are difficult to explore on our own. People in your life who you trust may help, other community services may help, and counselling can help. Counsellors also benefit from their own counselling experiences on the ‘other side of the couch’.
